I've not seen anything like it before.

Could it be a 47 licensed new in 48?

There are many examples of Hudson doing this....

    Nope, that's either a 40 or a 41 - grille is definitely NOT a 46-47.

Hmmm - I wonder. There was, in 1940, a Model 48P Big Boy Sedan. Maybe the seller is reading the "48" at the beginning of the serial number as meaning the car is a "48" model. Possible.

In any event we may find out shortly - I dropped the seller an email requesting the serial number.

it's a '41, probably a Traveler series, perhaps a Super Six. It seems to have had the optional fender lights as it looks like there is one on top of the LF fender, but not on the RF which may have been removed.

It needs to be rescued! Looks like original paint, Even has the hub caps. Someone in New England (that's not snow bound) should add this to his or her collection.
  • It's a '41, either Traveler or Deluxe. You can tell that by the rectangular hood lights in front of the strip along the hood. The extended trunk identify it as '41. I have a '41 Deluxe 2-door.
  • I wonder what the seller thinks the 65 Lincoln is. :D

Looks like it could be made completely road-worthy in an afternoon, and also looks solid. Probably worth the $2500, especially if the engine is basically okay. It could have overdrive, making it even more of a bargain. Would be a great "starter" car for someone without a big bank account, who wants to restore as he / she drives it.
