Problems with www.freewebs.com/hudsontech

Ok, here's the results of working with freewebs trying to determine what problems may exist on my web site.

In one sentence Freewebs guru's can't find nothing on the site. That's the bottom line. I have, several times, in the past 2 days accessed the site with my computer and the only thing coming up is on Netscape - I get a box that says "This document contains no data", but I can turn it off and the site works just fine.

I have not gotten the Norton's "virus tried to attack your site" (or similar words) opening with Internet Explorer, either, in the past two days. So whatever it is seems to remain a mystery.

I did buy, and run, an Ascentive program called Scan and Sweep, which removes useless (as they call them) clutter files - and cleaned out a bunch. What that might have to do with this website problem I have no idea - I'm just shooting blanks into the night here, so to speak!!! I've also run several Norton anti-virus scans and come up empty - no problems.

So I'm down to nothing - it may be an individuals computer, it may be the site, it may be the web browser - Internet Explorer, Firefox or Netscape. It may be a gremlin.

For everybody's safety I would advise having a damn good anti-virus program, just in case and for safety. That's about all I can come up with at this point. I will keep looking - but as of now I'm not getting any problems on opening the site. I'd appreciate hearing from anybody that does have a problem. I can go back to Freewebs, and hope they aren't just brushing this under the rug.

Thanks guys.

    Alex,

Yesterday (Friday) I could not get on the site. My computer would freeze up. I would have to reboot to get functions back. I use Internet Explorer. After several attempts, I managed to get the picture of the Hudson Plant to down load. Then a freeze up. I have McAfee anti virus and get no messages from them. I didn't have any problem downloading the service Bulletins direct link..Just when i tried to go to the main page of your web site. This morning (Sat). I tried and got the same thing and had to reboot. It seems to be related to the first page?

I have submitted the site to McAfee Site Advisor. They have not tested the site. but did put it on the list to be tested. I'll let you know when and if they post some results.

Lotsa reallly nice stuff on your site. I'll keep hacking..LOL
  • Alex,

Here's a link to the message I get from Google when I try to access the site:

    http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=http://www.freewebs.com/hudsontech/&client=googlechrome&hl=en-US

I get the same warning using either the Google Chrome browser or Firefox. With Internet Explorer, I get nothing.

Maybe you could refer freeweb's gurus to the page at the link above. The Google page also provides a link to Google webmaster tools they say you can use to diagnose and correct the problem.

    Good Luck,

    Hugh

    Alex,

I tried to boot up my lap top to see if I could access your site. I have Norton on it. It blocked a virus. The code it displayed was

"MSIE XML CoreServices XMLHTTP BO". If that means anything??

I really don't know what the problem is - but I'm beginng to suspect Google itself. It seem that everytime somebody searches Google to find my site, they get all these warning msgs.

Freewebs guru's, as I've pointed out, can find nothing - and I've logged in several times over the past 2 or 3 days using IE, Netscape and Firefox and had no problems or turned up any warnings.

As I pointed out in my last post on this thread I've tried just about everything I can. At this point about all I can think of is to point out that, as of last night, there has been 18,699 hits on the site - and the problems seem to be confined to a very few. Mostly those trying to access thru google.

I'm going to go into Googles websmasters tool and see if I can find out what they are finding. Once I figure out how to do it they have an Overview Page I can access and get a review of what they found. Will work on it this weekend - like everything else connected with this media simple it ain't.

Thank you very much sir!!! While I wait for an updated Microsoft security bulletin, I shall see what I can mess up at the web site you provided. In the meantime I have passed the web site url on to Freewebs support - see what they can come up with.

I've had problems, in the past, with ActiveX - Someday I'll figure out what it is and what it does (besides mess up my computer.

If I had the money I'd extend an invitation for you to come over here and show me how to fix this thing. LOL
