Help with coil number
I have an NOS Auto-Lite coil for my 36 Terraplane that has a paper tag with the number IG 3224 JS. It is marked 6 volt. That number doesn't show up on my Terraplane chart, but I'm hoping it is a good number, maybe of later manufacture. Anyone have an Auto-Lite application chart?
It is the original kind that has a metal cap that covers the top of the coil and has a metal shielded cable that runs to the ignition switch. I would like to stay stock. Maybe as long as it is a 6 volt coil it will work.

Thanks,
I wonder what the difference is between coils. This had a Del-co coil in an Auto- Lite system and worked find.0 -
Auto-Lite ignition coil, number IG-4633, was used on all 1936 Hudson 6 and Terraplane.

I went down to my local NAPA store, which had been very helpful and still has a few people on staff that are old enough to remember Hudsons, and ask them about the differences between coils. He said that back in the day he would stock two types of 6 volt coils a long and a short style and never had a problem. They used them on everything from tractors to cars. I just wonder what the internal differences were and why there are so many different numbers.0

I have a 29 Hudson with a off the shelf 6 volt coil that works. Maybe this is a better one but not sure. Ron0
