spare tire well questions...
guys,
I have all the metal work done on my 1942 Hudson except the spare tire well.
do any of you know if there is a readly available reproduction well from one of the more popular GM or Fords from the 50's that fits without much modifications that could be used in the 42-47 Hudsons?
I really hate to make one from scratch or block it off in mine. 100% orginallity would be nice but its a little beyond making a perfect match.
I guess if anybody has one that they have removed from a parts car would be my best soultion please contact me.
thanks and happy new year to you all,

Contact "Bent Metal" on this forum, he could reproduce one for you that will look just like the original. He is reasonable and does excellent work!0

I second that! Can't go wrong, if it's custom metal work, he can do it.0 -
Here is a Spare Tire Well for a '41 - '54 Chevy. Maybe this will work.

This would be the time to decide what size tires you are going to use on your car. Make sure your new well will fit a spare of the same size. Back "in the day" most cars used a 5:60 or 6:00X15 or 16. pretty narrow tire!0

Good point! If you use a taller tire (6:50 instead of 6:00) your spare may not fit properly. Been there, done that!

I run 650x16 Croker Classic tyres on my 1942 Hudson and have no trouble with them sitting in the original wheel well, plenty of room.
