I was removing the starter out of my Jet last night and in the process, I broke a terminal off of my OD kick down switch, (the one under the gas pedal) Does anybody know where I can get one, or does anybody have one that they would part with??

Thanks, Barry Smedley

53 Super Jet

And a bunch of Crolsey's:D

  • Barry, You can try NAPA. Try their # OD 6284 or OD 6424. They're special order from Balkamp but they do have them. The lugs are not Hudson lugs so you'll have to do some modification to your Jet hookup but they'll work. Price runs somewhere around $28 or so.
  • Thanks, Guys I thought it would be almost impossable to find.

This is Jeepsterman's kickdown switch. I retrofitted one to my '37 Terraplane (which never had an OD, originally), locating it under the accelerator. I used a series of pennies under the gas pedal (adhered with Super Glue!) as spacers, until I got the perfect fit!

    Jon-

Now that shocks me, you used pennies. Wouldn't washers have been cheaper shims? Or even thin pieces of sheetmetal? LOL!:D

The correct NAPA part number is OD6284. It is listed under '57 Ford switches.

No Jon has so much money he has to get rid of it some way.LOL.

Just wondering if you get interest on the pennies while they are being used there Jon.???

I move my kickdown switches over near the clutch. That way you can kick it down without flooring it.

..And you can split shift all 6 speeds if you're a mind to.
  • I might try that, I called napa, they have one for 15.00

  • Ok guys, I got the new switch but I am not sure how the wires go. The original switch had numbers 1 thru 4 marked on the terminals. The new switch just has "A" and "B" Does anybody have any ideas??

    Thanks, Barry

I believe it should be this way. The two switch terminals closest to the plunger end should have wires 1 and 4 connected to the terminals. Wires 2 and 3 are then connected to the terminals farthest way from the plunger end.
  • Thanks!!

Back in the day I used an aftermarket horn button wired to the ignition switch or coil (can't remember) and mounted on the steering column. Did not have to use my foot to kick it down...just tap the button.
