well, posting pics still sucks. I uploaded that Fast Image Resizer program, which is freeware, but it re-sizes it to 111.5kb instead of the required 97.5kb or whatever is the limit. Better, but not there, yet.0

If you are using Microsoft's XP or XP Pro as an operating system then they do a free & very simple to use photo resizer as part of their "Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP" suite. Download it at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx0 -
No such luck. Using Windows Vista.0

MS Paint will resize by Percent
You might have to play around but if you resize both H and V by 50% you cut the file size in 1/20 -
Hudson308 wrote:The Fast Image Resizer I downloaded from Freeware has a drop-down box that you can use to select from different size choices. They didn't have the size I needed listed to end up with a file size of 98K, so I used a little algebra to figure out what ratio ended up with that size. 560 x 420 works for JPEG images... sometimes you can even get away with 600 x 450. I then manually typed this ratio into the drop-down box and got what I needed. You're right... it's still a pain to post pics. It would be nice if the web host did the resizing for us automatically when uploading the image files.
It is still not a one step operation but Classic Car will automatically resize pictures if you use their photo gallery for storage.

There are four categories for Hudson Essex Terraplane. You can generate your own album to group your individual pictures, no resizing from your computer to the photo gallery and no resizing from the photo gallery to your post.0 -
FORGET ABOUT THE PHOTO UP LOADING! WHAT DID YOU DO TO THAT CAR!?!?!? LOL Man, can you post more pictures of what your doing? I'd love to see it.:) I've never had a step down taken that far apart.0

Well, that was kinda the purpose of being squared away with posting pics.
I'm going to start a new thread titled: Russell's Convertible
I changed the resolution in the drop down menu in the Fast Image Resizer, let's see if it works in the new thread.0 -
This is a freeware also and works quite well. You might try it. www.irfanview.com0

I think I got it now. Now if I could just figure out how to add text between pictures! That's what I wanted to do in my other thread, but couldn't manage to do it.0

Once you copied the image URL and the picture shows up in the posting box, just hit enter to move the blinking cursor to the next line. The blinking cursor is kind of hidden in the bottom of the picture, hitting enter allows it to show up and you can enter the text you want. After entering the text drop the cursor to the next line and insert another picture.
I hope this isn't as clear as mud, one of those things that is easier to show than explain.0 -
No, I follow what you are saying, but I don't upload from a URL, I upload from my hard drive, or a thumb drive.
Is uploading from an URL the only way to put text between pictures?0 -

I am not sure. How do you upload a picture to the posting box? Does the picture appear in the posting box, if so the cursor is probably buried at the bottom right corner where you can't see it? Just try hitting enter.0 -

I'll try that, but the picture doesn't appear in my post, unless I go to "Preview Post".
For the record, I go under "Manage attachments", hit "Browse", find the pic I want to upload on my hard drive or thumb drive, hit "Upload".0 -

I went back and looked at your original pictures, and saw that they were inserted as an attachment. You probably can't type text directly with your pictures using your method.
In the posting box I use the little yellow square that will say insert image when you move your cursor over it. You have to already have your picture on the web to use this method, that is why I upload photos to Classic Car Photo Gallery.
What you probably can do is use Word, create a document including the pictures where you want them, save the document. Attach the whole word document here on the forum as you would attach a picture.0 -

I think that's my answer. I'll do that next time and my post will be easier to follow. Thanks so much. If not word, then certainly Publisher, which I have as well.0 -

Glad to try and help. I am not a computer wizard, but I have found that if I hit my head on the wall long enough some things will sink in,
I forgot to add in the previous post, beautiful work on the convertible. I would love to own one someday, but I don't have enough years left to learn the skills to take on a project like yours.
Now if it was only a '52 Commodore 8 instead of a lowly '52 Hornet it would be a keeper..

Thanks again for the help. Your comments about the Commodore 8 aren't taken lightly. I'm a big fan of the LWB cars (Hornet and Commodore) and would really like to do a Commodore 8 next. '52 is my favorite year and there is only one known '52 Comm8 convertible, so maybe a '51? Heck, I'd settle for any Comm8 convertible, what am I talking about! If not another convertible, second choice would be a HLWYD and third choice would be a Coupe.0 -
Looks like you're basically building a Hudson from the ground up. I applaud you. That's a true Hudnut job there. As long as they're out there to be restored you can bet one of us will be nuts enough to take such a project on!. Can't let a little thing like welding get in your way. hehe0

Ain't that the truth? When I started this whole thing, I wasn't really planning on doing what had to be done, but it just kinda worked out that way with what I ended up with. Not that I wouldn't do it again, but the next one is definately going to be a complete car! If I survive this one, that is.;)0
