I was given this original picture (taken in 1950) when I bought the car from the estate of the original owner. The original pic looks much better than this image. He was 17 when he got the car for his High School graduation in 1948. He really loved this car. He put on every period accessory that was available at the time.

Just courious, when did you buy it? I was just wondering how long the other guy had it...this kind of info is always interesting to me. - Michael
  • Commodore six. I bought the car in 2003. Can't see it in the pic but it is two tone maroon. Mostly original paint is checked but gives it a nice patina. It has a pristine original interior- as new from the dealer. The doors have all the oil change stickers from 1951 and up. I also have a nice letter from his widow who tells of all the great times they had with the car. Believe it or not, I have also spoken with the dealer who sold it new. He is in his nineties and lives in a small town, Lake Preston, in South Dakota. He remember's helping the owner, Roy, put on the horns, spotlights etc. Pretty neat.

Very nice. You need to document all of those conversations and keep them with the car. Would that dealer write something up for you? Great history!

    Niels-

This is a good idea. Exactly what I was going to recommend. Sure is a looker! I like all the extra acoutrements. Stepdowns just seem like they were made for the accessories. 1950's comin' at 'ya full in the face!

    Pretty car, I love it.
  • Outstanding car!!!

    You're one lucky guy.
