Have spent the past couple of days transferring photos from my MSN site to my freewebs site. Following are now in place:
1955-1957 Hudson
Hudson Ambulances (mostly Australian 1920's, 1930's)
Hudson Owners Cars - 1909-1925, 1926-1942 and 1946-1957
I should have the MSN site cleared off in the near future - I have until February, which until a week ago was "6 months off." You know what I mean.
In the meantime if anyone has pictures they want put on, send 'em along via email, if you can.

Alex, I hate to bring this up once again, but my Firefox will not let me on to your FreeWebs site. They claim that many attacts have been fostered in FreeWeb sites in the past.

Alex:
I just tried the site with Firefox and received the same warning as 53Jetman. Here is what the details say.

I am at wits end - this problem seems (I say seems, because I've heard from less than a half-dozen people about this problem) to be one that is localized to a few computer systems.
I was getting that warning on Firefox myself and was told by Freewebs support to change my security settings. I did and havn't gotten the msg since.
Most reports I've gotten have been from those accessing via google - I havn't gotten any response from google support, except to download a certain file, which I did and havn't heard from google since. I have gone to Webmaster tools in google, done what they recommended and still the problem persists in a few systems.
It seems that all I can do is point to the part of the warning msg that says "Over the past 90 days, freewebs.com/hudsontech did not appear to function as an intermediary for the infection of any sites" and that no malicious malware has been hosted in the past 90 days.
The frustrating thing about all this is some users have found warnings on Firefox (which, with google) seems to be the most common, yet another has found a warning using Netscape and still another using IE.
I'm still working on it - but I'm at a loss, because I'm not coming up with anything. I use Nortons security software myself. I havn't had any emails from anyone saying they've picked up Malware or a virus off the site.
So, I guess all I can say is I'll keep trying to figure this ghost out and in the meantiime hope that it is some sort of gremlin that isn't a danger to anyone accessing the site.

As soon as I tried to access the site I got a message stating two trojans were detected, and I deleted them immediately.
Then went out of the site, and logged back in again. First thing I got again was a warning
TrojanDownloader:JS/Zlob
so deleted that, and then could get in with no more issues.
Spooky, but I don't think my computer was infected in any way.

I know next to nothing about websites, but if there were some malicious program that had installed itself, wouldn't it now be written into the HTML that's now on Alex's website?
If so, then if Alex uploaded the original HTML from his own files (under its original file name) to his website, wouldn't that overwrite the modified, "bad" HTML that is now there?
Just curious.0 -
I don't get any warnings, but when the page comes up, it locks up my computer and takes a minute or two to get off the site.

Maybe you have an idea there Jon - so what I'm going to do tonight is, since this seems to have started when I started uploading to the photo albums, is dump all the albums and reload them to see what happens.

Ok. I went and deleted the photo gallery. Anybody that's had a problem with warning msg's want to give the site a try - let's see if that will make a difference.
If it does get rid of the warning msg's then we'll reload each album one at a time and have y'all check it each time.
If it doesn't, back to square one - and, by the way, I have everything backed up so I can reload it later.

I also got the message (with Firefox) but I went into the site anyhow (using the "ignore this warning" button) & had a scout round.Ran a systemwide virus scan & I was still "clean"!!!0

I'm really beginning to think that there is nothing wrong on the site itself. At least nothing malicious that's going to infect every computer from ours to the Department of Defense.
Everything I've tried, and Freewebs support has tried, has turned up nothing - yet some people get the warnings. Is it possible that there's something like a "residual" - something that was there, but is now gone, but left a ghost behind that's giving the warnings yet there's nothing there?? Begs the question doesn't it.
It's been suggested I clean the site completely - downloading everything, then having those who've had a problem log onto an empty site to see if the msg's persist. If not than we have a problem with one of the files, perhaps. There are a couple of problems with that approach - if there is something in there who's to say it won't download with the file that I take off the site thus giving a "clean" blank site, but returning when I reload the files. And that leads to the 2nd problem. Anybody that's had a problem want to sit on their computer for a day or two, at best, and open the site each time I upload a file??? I don't expect anybody has the time to do that.
So. I have downloaded a lot of the stuff on the site to a backup file on my computer. At the moment I'm running a Nortons search, again, and if there is anything corrupting the files it should, logically, the scan should find it because the file is now on my computer hard drive. So we shall see shortly.

Alex,
This is a great site and I am sure it was / is a monumental task. Thank you. I hope the Club officers see it and understand what the club is missing. Niels0 -

Niels, given the fact that I am now 71 and ain't gonna be around forever, I have contacted Mike Cherry about the possibility of the club taking over the site - if at some time in the near (hopefully) future the club takes the step of getting it's own dedicated web site my site could be incorporated into a club site. It's an idea that's been put fwd.
In the meantime I really would like to find someone to work on this with me - or at least have the password to get into it. The primary problem right now is that I pay for this site - it's $50 a year at the moment. Not prohibitive - just a hair under $1 a week. Bottom line to have the site as it is just about anywhere it's going to cost something. Since I've been working with Gregg Maroney in getting the Hudson publications I've scanned on-line he would be the logical (at least) 1st choice. But at least I'm doing something to keep this site available. Now if we can just work the glitches out of it.
