Aha ---- thanks Guys, I thought something was not quite right here. The engine has a four barrell carb, clifford manifold, headers, etc., so I knew it had been extensively tweaked, but was hoping they'd used the original block.



It appears it was holding its own out there on the track anyway, as a box of trophies from the early sixties came with it. No lettering on the car though, so maybe the racer/owner was just a weekend warrior.



I'll be interested to see what valves and cam he was using.

I'm not sure Russell, -- its not black now, but maybe its been repainted sometime in the past. It's still out in the trailer ( I've been waiting for the Convert to go to the resto shop so I'll have room in the shop), and I've hardly looked at it since I bought it. The trailer is half buried in the snow right now, and I'll have to do some shovelling to get at it and see if I can find evidence of a once black paint job.



Come to think of it, I did see some some black paint behind one of the park lights, but just thought it was black primer. Didn't look that close at it, at the time.



Someday, it will be black again though, or very, very dark blue like the one on the Napa calender. IMO, these coupes have an imposing presence in black, --- a sort of "don't mess with me" attitude, especially if they have the right exhaust note. This one will.

Checked it out as best I could Russell, but I couldn't find any evidence of it being black -- yet. About all I could do while it was in the trailer is peek at the back, and front, due to limited space along the sides in there.



However, the car does show evidence of it being repainted somewhere along the line, and whoever did it was pretty good at his craft. When I restore the car, it will be stripped completely, and the painter will be instructed to show no evidence of it being any other colour, so maybe this is what was done earlier too.



Will the serial number give any clue as to its original colour ?
