Stepdown carpet type

Hello All,

What is the period correct carpet for Stepdowns? Loop or cut pile (or something else)? I have seen both on them and they both look good.

  • I'd say cut pile. Additionally, it looks better, feels better and is easier to clean than loop style.

    I agree. Any other opinions?

A cut-pile carpet is correct for all stepdown Hudsons.

You guys are talking about rear carpet only, right? I thought the early stepdowns were only available with a "carpet-textured" rubber floormat in front.

For early stepdowns that is correct. Dave's question was "what would be period correct" carpet for a stepdown, which would be cut pile.

Front carpet became standard on all Commodores & Hornets for the first time in 1951.

  • Ok then, cut pile is the correct choice. Good, that is the type I prefer also.
