Jeff, try Broadway Title. I don't have a Hemmings in front of me,but you can check them out on the web and follow instructions. This is the very easiest and best way I have found to get one. It is not valid in some states, but most it is. If you are a member of the HET club, mention this for an extra discount.

Hi jeff29. There are some interesting suggestions here. I have one more. In Calif. I bought a 34 Chevy a few years ago and the owner coud not find the title. So I used an auto shop to do a lean sale. Got a clean title and no inspection was required. I don't know if that would work in NC. Good luck. Lee

  • Maybe the Illinois governor can help, he has lots of stuff for sale.
  • Man, I'm just trying to figure out how to get rid of an ex wife and still get her family to give me a stepdown. Heck, if I could just get them to take the ex-wife I would give them a Plymouth Mini Van and a horse, then go buy my own danged Stepdown

    tut tut!!!
  • Jeff, Here in NC you can get a surety bond obtainable from a good insurance company (like Hagerty). Once you have the bond and have obtained all the VIN info that you can (Pictures of VIN, condition of car etc) then you can go to DMV and make application for title. Once they have your bond and the vehicle info they will issue a temp title. Once a grace period passes, about a year I think, then your title becomes permanent. Believe me this is a lot easier than Broadway title which is NOT recognized in NC. Yes you can go and get Broadway to do a title for your car from Tenn, but then you have to pay $100 "highway usage fee" because you're technically bringing it in from another state. In addition you also have to buy the title from Broadway fo about $250. In the long run you're cheaper off and better off with getting a bond.

LOL Pay his court costs he might even give you a title-printing machine.

    (Gotta love IL politics)
  • Aaron....

U R right about the title machine.... I would go a bit farther and say if you gave his wife the opportunity to run said machine for a year at 150K, he would throw in all the title blanks you need.

Gotta wonder... is is the lack of heat in the winter or the almost sea breeze coming off the Lake?

Today in the Collectable and Restoration Hobby, many States have a Process to obtain a Title for an old 'barn find' car without 'papers'.

I suggest contacting your State DNV to learn what specifically is required then make Application. If one Operator dont know re-dial and ask another...
  • jeff29,

I found my father's old title for his Hudson. He passed away a while back and so did the car it too has been buried. It looks a lttle worn but it will work if you can spend a little time on it to change the words that hasnt faded.

I live outside of statesville, nc and still have an inspection receipt which would help show ownership.
  • I Was At A Swap Meet In Detroit Today And There Was A Guy That Alot Of Titles For Sale. Had Alot Of Hudson, There Was A 53 For $60.00. But I Dont Need One. The Shows On Tommorrow If You Have A Fast Jet.
  • Jeff29,

After seeing your post I dug the title back out. My girlfriend was about to throw it away. It not a convertable but a Commodore Six. But the Commodore Six can be barely read. I can get with you to fix the numbers that has faded. I was going to throw it away but you can have it for a case of beer!!!

I go Cornelius alot and I could meet you somewhere with the title and the inspection.
  • Fifty States, fifty different title and registration laws. Do what is legal in YOUR State.

With that said, go register on the HAMB www.jalopyjournal.com and run a free Wanted ad for a "historical document" for your year and model Hudson. Depending on whom you are dealing with, expect to pay anywhere between $65.00 and $300.00 for such..
