Back to the Vac
Vacuum tank that is. The fuel feed on the top of the vacuum tank is half in something. It doesn't appear to be tapered like pipe threads. A half inch brass fitting goes in but it doesn't sea as the bottom looks like a flared fitting goes in so maybe that is what I'm missing. Does anyone know what the fitting is? Also, does anyone have a NAPA number for the cork gasket to the top, eight screws hold it down.

Have to make your own gaskets from rubberized cork (easy to make). The top is the part you have to be carefull with. It breakes very easy (pot metal).0

Ron, I can make the gasket, what do you know about the fuel inlet fitting?

Oh Oh, I was looking at the repair manual you sent me a while back and it shows a strainer screen on an elbow, that must have a gasket that it tightens down on. I wonder it anyone has those strainers to sell? I'll have to go back through the earlier threads and see who is doing repairs, they may have the strainers.

if you break the pot metal top check the thread on hudson & essex reproduction parts. They make new ones.0

Thank you Spencer, I wonder if they also have the strainers? What is the link to the reproduction site?

Spencer, did a search and found the site, they don't show the strainer but I will write them and see if they have it.

Okay, it looks like the fuel inlet is a banjo type fitting with a half inch threaded plug with a strainer on the bottom. I looked in my junk drawer and I don't have one. I think this may be tough piece to find.

Yep, that's it. I need the part that says from the tank.

Checkout Myers Early Dodge web site given by Ron P. Their catalog lists the strainer screen and gasket you need under the Fuel section.0

Mars55, thanks, the note to Myers Early Dodge is in cyberspace as we talk. I didn't see the fitting in their online catalog but they will probably know who has the parts.

Harry,
If you can't find the part in the US let me know. I've probably got one one in my spares (here in NZ!!)0 -
Thank You Dave, I will do what I can on this side of the pond but it is good to know where I can find one if I need to.
