Would it be possible to create a "Sticky" which would address attaching pictures on the forum?

Could you explain? Do you mean some sort of forum thread to which you would post a photo or something?
  • Jon, I think he would like the instructions for posting photos on the forum made into a sticky so that anyone who needs to, could go to it without searching thru the forums.

Thanks,Bob! That's exactly what I was asking for. I see so many guys say that they don't know how to post pictures here, and I'm one of them. On the Studebaker forum which I frequent, there is a "sticky" at the top of the page which explains in detail how to go about posting pictures for the other members to see.
  • Just bumping this up again and hoping for some simple instructions or possibly a sticky at the top so that everyone could benefit.

Classiccar is planning some major improvements to this website fairly soon. The format of the Forum will stay the same. Perhaps, as we turn a "new leaf", we can incorporate a step-by-step instruction sheet regarding how to post pictures. Could one of our more computer-savvy Forum members work up a simplified instruction sheet (1, 2, 3, a, b, c, etc.) and send it to me? Then, we'll either post it as a "sticky" "How-to", or possibly Classiccar could tie it into their page layout. We'll see...

I'm at HETdetailed@verizon.net , drop the HET before sending.
  • There are several ways to post photos on the forums. The first step is to get your image online. We will assume that you have a photo that is cropped and ready to go.

ClassicCar.com can handle some rather large images, but if they are too big they take a very long time to load for our dial-up friends, please keep this in mind. I would stay to keep images to under 50KB and limit the number per post.

The more photos the smaller the images file size should be. Do not confuse image size with file size. You can have a large image that only takes up 25KB.

Ok, getting uploaded. There are several ways to get your image loaded online. Here are some examples:

    1) You have your own website and you can FTP images to your space.

    2) You have a Webshots or Photo Bucket account to store your images online.

    3) You can use ClassicCar.com's upload section (BETTER).

    4) You can create an account in our ClassicCar.com Gallery to post your images. (BEST)

I will take the last 2 examples for the how-to exercise.

    Exercise 1: Best Method

Go to the ClassicCar.com Photo Gallery and register for an account. It is instant and it is FREE.

    http://www.classiccar.com/photopost/register.php

Once you complete the registration, check your email for the confirmation email. Follow the instructions to complete the signup. Once you logon, select Upload Photo from the toolbar top right. Follow the directions on the page for uploading. Once you have uploaded your email, you will notice a URL or Link to the location your image is stored. This link is below the image you just uploaded in the DIRECT LINK box toward the bottom of the page. Highlight a copy the Link.

When you go to post the image in the Forum, create a new message or respond to a post you will see a Windows Icon that is a Yellow Square with some small mountains and sun in it at the top of the message post. When you mouse over the Icon, it will say Insert Image. Click it. This will bring up a dialog box that you can paste your DIRECT LINK into. That’s all you need to do. Just hit post for the world to see your creation. Just make sure it has underwear on it ;)

You can use t his method with any image link on the Internet. Let’s be careful not use copyright materials. We reserve the right to edit or delete images for whatever reason.

    Exercise 2: Easy Method

Go to the ClassicCar.com Upload Page at: http://www.classiccar.com/upload.php

Follow the instructions on the page to upload your images. Try to keep images under 50KB here. One you have uploaded the image file, see the instruction on that page for the link to your image. A link is also known at a path. The path is: http://www.classiccar.com/files/ You need to include your image file name after this path as this example shows: http://www.classiccar.com/files/yourfilename.gif

When you go to post the image in the Forum, create a new message or respond to a post you will see a Windows Icon that is a Yellow Square with some small mountains and sun in it at the top of the message post. When you mouse over the Icon, it will say Insert Image. Click it. This will bring up a dialog box that you can paste your LINK into. That’s all you need to do. Just hit post for the world to see your creation.

    I hope this helps.
  • Thank you VERY much for those instructions. I was able to post a couple of pictures. I actually posted my pictures from photobucket.:D
