54 Hornet under hood finish

Im going to be detailing the underhood and chassis items on my 54 in the next few weeks and I would like to get it close to stock in appearance. Is the steering gear box, pitman arm ,center link and tie rods a natural cast finish or are they painted a semi gloss black? What is the correct finish on the hood hinges, supports and springs? Are the twin H air boxes painted the same color red as the engine or are they different?

I have a NOS stepdown inter fender panel hanging on the garage wall complete with stapled canvas. I would describe it as high gloss black not flat black.

I had all the under hood sheet metal , behind the grill metal and the radiator core support powder coated in semi gloss black. I think it will look real nice when I get it reassmbled. I want the engine to stand out from the engine bay, not the other way around, like it would with full on gloss black panels.0

For the look that you want, the semi-gloss black or even satin is the way to go. Good choice.0 -

Hinges, supports and springs were never painted, Clean them up and clear coat them to be correct. Gear box, pitman arm and center steering are natural cast iron finish.0 -
I have used Imron Poly black and it's too glossy..A great black to use is Valspar low gloss black. it is availble in bulk cans and rattle cans at Tractor Supply. It makes parts look like original.0
