I need a measurement for a sun visor for a '49 Super 6

I have an opportunity to maybe buy a sunvisor for my '49 Super 6 from a friend, but I won't have the opportunity to test fit any on my car, as my car and the visors in his barn are about 1,000 miles apart.

Of course I can just go out to my Hudson and GUESS exactly where it attaches and take that measurement, but that'd be pretty risky as I'd just be guessing where it attaches.

Instead, would a few of you with visors on your '48 or '49 Hudson S6s or C8s please take some measurements and provide them here, along with a description of how the measurements were made? I'd be grateful. Also, are there any brands/styles that are considered more stock or period correct then others?

Thanks,

-Jason

These things are hard to measure because there are no straight edges to reference your dimesions from, except the center. Also they flex and are a bit bendy too. In my opinion there is only one style that looks right on a step down Hudson and it's the design that most people use. I remake these and I might start making the brackets as well. Let me try and give you some dimesions but keep in mind that the visor does flex and you might have the visor there that you want and the figures I give you could be as much as a half inch different. It might be better yet to see a photo of the visor you want to buy. But, here goes a quick sketch. ....Hope this helps.:) By the way, measure it up-side down. They hold still a little better that way.
  • Hey thanks Bent Metal. Hopefully this will work out well. If you start repopping them, that be cool, and good info to know also.
