stepdown E-brake "claws"
I am dismantling the "triple safe brakes" mechanism in my '54 and am curious about the three "claw" apparatus. Looks like someting out of Jurassic Park. In mine they appear to be misaligned and one of the claws is attached to nothing. What was the inspiration behind this and what is the correct attachment? I can find nothing in the factory manual.

The safety second brake was not hooked up on 54's if you had power brakes. What you mention is the idler that the foot brake hooks to so when your pedal went half way down it pushed a rod and the emergency brake cables were applied.
