From 20 feet away this Hornet doesn't look too bad. But, upon closer examination it has a fair amount of issues from a torn top dash surface to missing door panels to body work to God knows what else! Sure, the engine can turn over freely by hand, but once it starts up on its own, then you may have to face stuck valves and a leaky rear main seal just to name a few. This could indeed be a diamond in the rough for the individual who is able to do much of the engine and body work for himself. However, if you lack the talent to fix this one, you'd probably be better off spending four to five times as much for a ready to go, nicely presentable Hornet with all the major body and mechanical needs already repaired and still be money ahead not to mention the headaches that go with a major undertaking as this could be.0

Still, it's complete, and that means a lot after 56 years.
Also, why would a Hudson mechanic install the 262 head but not the Twin-H on his own car?0 -
Most of the old time Hudson Mechanics did not particularly like the Twein H setup, and would argue all day long that the 2 barrel carb. was just as effective performance wise, without the hassel of syncronizing the carbs. Our service manager felt he proved with his own car that the 2 barrel was the way to go - he was good at rebuilding carbs and syncronizing the twin H carbs, but just didn't like setup.

I thought it was something like that. It's not that hard to sync the two, and don't know jack about carbs, I grew up on fuel injection.0

This car has been on Craigs list several times in the past. This is the first time I have seen the extended pictures and description offered. There are some very interesting points about this car... aside from it being complete... it has what appears to be a very solid and clean body. Take a look at the door openings at the hinge points.... realatively rust free. This not normally found in a car that was stored out side for 25+ years! This would be a geat restoration candidate for the Hornet sedan buyer.0
