Prices And Hudson ?
I keep seeing cars like this very nice coupe that keep coming back up for sale with a lower and lower price and the reserve removed. Do you think its over priced, not a good time, or the car is a piece of you know what ? This is only one of many I have seen like this. Thoughts ? Thanks, Ron

The mid range of the market has dropped out on all cars right now. There's folks that never intended to sell that have to now, and there's a much smaller and much more reluctant group of buyers out there. People are afraid to buy ANYTHING right now, lest they not be able to get cash back out if they need it. If I had to sell my 62 t-bird convertible right now, I'd probably lose $10k off what I bought it for last summer, and that was already lower than it had been.
I think the reason you're seeing them come back with lower and lower opening bids and reserves is that people are still hoping for the money that they saw a year or two ago, maybe even what they paid for it. But just like real estate, it's just not gonna happen right now.
A few people that can afford it are going to make a fortune down the road, though.0 -
That about hits it on the head. Also, credit is virtually non existant, even for the well qualified who want to finance.0

I agree with Old Bird but perhaps to a lesser extent on some Hudsons since there are fewer available forsale. I still can't find anyone who wants to sell a true #2 or #1 51- 53 Hornet Coupe and my buyer will pay top dollar for the right car. Not too many people have a car available like this. Most of these trade within the club or go unadvertised. Also, alot of the Hudson guy's are older, retired and relatively financially secure (if there is such a thing). Many have owned their cars for years and bought them cheap aswell.
The particular e-bay car mentioned was priced way too high from the outset. To the contrary, the outstanding two tone blue 54 Hornet sedan on e-bay now is every bit the money and more with a starting bid of 11.5K. I hope someone here buys it.0 -

I've seen this car in person, and it defenately is not worth what the seller is hoping for. It is a driver, but with that said, that is about it.

It also appears it has been "freshened up" for the sale, but needs much more than what has been put into it to be a good, reliable car/investment. From the description, they are not selling their pride and joy, simply trying to turn merchandise for profit. Nothing wrong with this, but not the best buy to be had when these conditions exist.0
