manifold heat with Clifford exhaust

In order to connect my two carbs to my Clifford header, I made a small stainless steel 'block', and attached it to the center of the header flange. The flange is thick enough that I could tap a #10-24 blind hole that allows me to attach the block with a screw. It has two blind holes in the top for placing the choke tubes in. It's roughly about 3/4" wide x 1/2" thick x 3/4" tall.
I was originally going to weld a mild steel block to the flange, but opted for something that was easily removable, in order to be able to use a silicone 'gasket insulator', if necessary. I'm just now getting it together, so I have no idea how it works, but wanted to be able to adjust temperatures in case my carbs pick up too much heat from the flange.0 -
I don't have anything going to my carbs from my Clifford header, i just set the chokes wide open . A couple of pumps on the pedal and hit the key, allow a few minites to warm up and off you go. I live about 40 miles north of Seattle, not in a desert area. Lou Cote0

I may end up doing the same thing, if connecting them the way I'm doing is too much heat in the summer time. The past couple of years, I've used the Clifford headers along with the stock single two barrel carb, and simply 'placed' the end of the tube on the top edge of the header flange. This worked great for me. I did like Lou, and let it warm up good before driving.
I'm just trying this little block idea for wintertime garage entertainment. I guess I'm bored, so I end up building a fire in the wood stove, and putzing around the garage all weekend, and coming up with stuff like this. I'm dying to get my cars out, but they're predicting 5 more inches of snow this Sunday!0 -
They make a carb/choke kit that uses a box shape piece of metal that is held by a clamp for headers. Go to Napa and go thru the help section on the wall or in the book.0

Edelbrock make a kit as well for headers.

Didn't know such kits were available, thanks. What about manifold heat to prevent carburetor icing? Will the Twin-H manifold operate ok without heat?0
