A "500" is a narrow block 232 from a 50 pacemaker. It could be used for a compression bump on a 48-50 2620

Another question on heads, the aluminum head that is on my block is steel stamped 020 towards the front drivers side. Does that mean that is was milled .020 already or something else? I could not see the point mark.0

yes Lance, that's what those numbers are referring to. At least someone had enough brains to stamp it, eliminates alot of guesswork & potential headaches for someone else !
Personally, I don't think I'd use it for the simple fact that it's an aluminum head ! ! they aren't worth the trouble !!

Why would Hudson have made an aluminum 500 head for the narrow block 232 engine as they made a cast iron one much like the one on my 50A Hudson Pacemaker "Deluxe!"? Anyway, if you can get this aluminum 500 head for the starting bid of around five bucks, it might look good hanging on the wall as a bit of Hudson memorabilia!0

They made the aluminum head for the 232 for the same reason they made them for all the 262s, 254s, and 308s. People would buy them...0
