Hi All,

I'm kind of new to the site, but very much enjoy all the "hudson talk" on the forum. I have a '49 brougham that I'm fixing into a street rod of some sort. I recently pulled the engine and trans and wanted to offer it to the crowd here before trying ebay or craig's list. I know it isn't worth much in the shape it's in, but there's only a finite number of these castings in existence and would hate to see this end up in the re-cycle bin. That's why I'm asking a nominal price of $50 - as a deterant to someone just picking it up for free and making a few bucks by re-cycling it.

The engine obviously hasn't ran in years and seems to be seized, but appears to be crack free and relatively small amount of rust. The carburetor appears to function. The 3 speed with overdrive tranny was full of oil and the output shaft turns freely when in neutral.

I live in Renton Washington and could possibly deliver it locally. I would be willing to trade if you have a part or two I could use. I don't get on the site daily, so try calling me in the evenings at 425-254-9106 if you're interested.

Thanks,

Lee

Sounds like a bargain! This one probably won't go begging for long, but if it's still hanging around by June 1, I can help you list it (for free) in the Hudson club magazine -- assuming you yourself are not a member, of course. A couple hundred people will see this on the internet, but 3500 will see it in the White Triangle News.

Thanks Jon B - Hopefully we can find a good home for it here.....otherwise I might take you up on your offer.

    Thanks!

    Hey all,

How tough would it be to modify my 36T for that trans?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Jeff,

Your only hope is a '40 trans which are rare as hens teeth. I recommend the 3:5 rear end from England. I put that in my '36T and I can cruise at 65mph. They are also cheaper than a '40 OD. Contact Ivan Zaremba, in SF Bay Area, he is in the roster and also on this forum.

    Hey Richard,

Yes, thanks. I have contacted Ivan and need to save my 'allowance' for a while to get to the $850 cost. Just thought a trans might be easy and quicker! HA

Hi All, I think I found a good home. Sold it to Steve from Portland who will pick it up on his way to the Monroe Wa swap meet next month. Thanks for the looking! Saved one more piece of of Hudson history from the recycler!
