General Info Handbook for Hudson Built Automobiles

It's time, once again, for my annual fund raiser to raise funds to get to the National meet!!!!!!

And it's a great deal too - even with the cost of living going thru the roof we are still holding the price at $15 for a CD or $25 for a hard copy in a 3-ring binder!!!

For those who don't know what this is it is the result of some 30 years of research. Each year is presented on it's own, showing chassis data which shows model, number of cylinders, bore x stroke and displacement, wheel base; then there is the body data showing body styles and factory prices; we have, from 1916 up, fuel system data showing carburetor numbers and, where we could find them, fuel pump numbers.

There is electrical data showing starter numbers, generator numbers, regulator, distributor and even coil numbers for most years. And we even have the shipping numbers and notes that provide information.

This book has a Weight Sheets section featuring weight sheets that were issued by Hudson from 1909-1954 (missing 1917-1922, but all other years are there). And from around 1946 to 1954 there are Car Distribution Department Bulletins with info on accessory's, factory issued weights and much, much more.

Price includes shipping - for the hard copy shipping will be via media rate, but we have found that is almost as quick as 1st class.

So get your copy today - don't miss out on what I think is one of the best reference books on Hudson today (but, then, I might be forgiven for saying that, now.)

Even though I am attached to my computer at the umbilical cord, I recommend the 3-ring binder version of this colossal collection of Hudson factoids. By the time I would have popped the CD into the slot, waited for it to come up to speed, and begun to navigate my way around the CD, I have the book open and I'm at the desired page.

But then, I'm a geezer, used to book format! Maybe you're a young whippersnapper who is 'at one" with modern technology.

Either way, I heartily recommend Alex's Handbook. I've had mine for several years now and have probably consulted it 2-3 times a week, year in and year out, for information. Don't know how I'd live without it. For the price of five Whopper meals at Burger King, you can make yourself into a Hudson Know-It-All! (Fewer Whoppers, if you can deal with the disc!)

    Alex,

I did buy your CD's earlier, and treasure them, but I agree with Jon that you can't beat a paper copy for speed at answering your question. Plus, you don't need electricity to make it work.

    So...... "check's in the mail"

    Thanks,

But you do need power to run the lights so you can read a paper copy. :D

    Thank you.

Will you cover the first born's education expenses as part of the deal (he's at an American university)??? If so, we may have a deal!!:):)

Oh sure - I'll just ask Mr. Obama for a bail-out "grant"!!!!! :D

Heck of a note, ain't it - send the lad to an American college and it costs so much you can't afford to come visit with him. hehehehe

Mailed out 4 more copies of my General Information Handbook today - got 3 more to go tomorrow. That makes 12 hard copies and 2 CD's.

But don't for one minute I'm sold out - just ordered a new ink cartridge for my laser printer so will be ready to print again early next week.

To those of you who have so kindly ordered your books are most likely in the mail - or will be tomorrow.

Thanks again for the support - it's what keeps this project rolling.

I can see the writing on the wall as I await your book with hungry eyes: In two weeks, I'm going to be looking for the supplement. So, you'd better start now and get to it so I can help to keep you busy!:D

I'm not sure I want to add anything more - I have a 1984 copy that runs to 139 pages. The 8-2007 edition contains 290 pages!!! I wouldn't want to give the postman a hernia lugging them around. :D

But, yes, I have made a few changes in the current edition - but they are formatting issues, not content. So there is nothing new added.

Finally got the last 3 orders mailed out to buyers in Macomb and Moline, IL and Columbus, OH - you know who you are.

I tried to get them out Saturday - but the computer system in the post office was down (bless todays technology - maybe we should get back to pony express!!) and due to the fact that the area was in the middle of monsoon rains I didn't feel like running all over Memphis to another Post Office. Sorry 'bout that.

Anyway they are on their way.

  • I received mine today and I thankyou for your patience in putting something like this together. It would seem that some years there is almost too much information out there and for others there is a very limited supply.

I have only just started looking through the book and am very pleased.

Todd, I agree - it isn't very balanced. But when it comes to researching Hudson sometimes I think it would be easier to work with makes like Locomobile, or Octomobile!!!

Very little information was left for us as most Hudson records were destroyed, except for what John Conde saved and whatever wandered out into wherever.

It's taken me over 30 years to put what I have together (the first time I printed a copy of this book, on a mimeograph machine, back in 1984, it ran to something like 130 pages). Of course I could have done a far, far better job had I the resources to have visited what few Hudson collections are out there or been able, back in the 60's to buy up whatever I could get my hands on.

So I did the best I could with what I had and the result is this handbook.

Thanks for your comments and your purchase.

Just thought I'd kick this back to the top one more time - then I'll leave everybody alone.

To all of you who purchased my book, a very, very big thank you. Your support is encouraging and the comments make me believe I've done something right.

I probably won't be offering it many more times. Ads in several newsletters and, in the past, in the WTN have been disappointing. Oh, I don't expect everyone to rush out and buy a copy - but it is discouraging when response is virtually nil unless I run an ad like this on the forum.

Again thank you to everyone who purchased a copy. I hope it's helpful and up to your expectations.
