Where does this spring bushing go? It only has female threads and looks like a press-in type bushing. All the shackle bushings have male and female threads.

KERRY, your right, it is a press in spring shackle bushing but not any you need. The ones you need screw in and there are both left/right hand threads. That one could possably be what would be used if the threads in the part on the frame is messed up. BUD

    Bud,

the problem with that is the pictured bushing OD is not big enough. Rare Parts, the company making and selling them, swear it is a spring bushing for those model Terraplanes. I just can't figure out where, they say it goes somewhere on the front end. But the leaf spring bushing on this one look nothing like those.

Kerry, you are right again and they are wrong, it is nothing that you need, I redid all of my front suspension and there is no place for it on the 37, maybe fits other yrs, can't say on that but not the 37, send it back. BUD

The 36-37-38 and 39 all big 6's and 8's take shackles with a U frame. Threaded at the top and bottom. Right side is 4 bushings with right hand thread and left side takes 2 right and 2 left threads. The U frame is put into the chassis and spring and the bushings are screwed in. Need a special tool so as not to knock the grease fitting end out of the bushing. Walt.

    Hello,

I apologize for the thread drift, but I was wondering if anyone can comment on the quality of the Car Parts Discount suspension parts? I am looking at their shackle assembly, silent U-shackle and spring bolt kit for use on my 1947 Cab Pickup.

Are there any other sources for these parts, and for the various other suspension bushings?

    Thank you, and take care,

    Steve Bryson

I think all their old car suspension parts are made by Rare Parts.
