Sorry its not HET related. There are a lot of knowledgable people on this site, and we need help identifying this motor and the car it came out of. It has a Hitachi carby, Mitsubishi charging generator & starter. It appears to be a 2cyl rear drive motor. Thanks, Barry

Apparently Japanese, from the accessories- Earliest Hondas had a 2 cylinder, I believe- anybody know what those engines looked like?0

I think Fiat 600s were 2 cyl. My friend '3-wheel Charlie' used to race one on the ice at Whitney Point, NY The inside rear wheel lifted off the ice in the turns, hence his monicer.
I rode in it once. I can still see Charlie rocking back and forth trying to get the last ounce out of it.0 -
You need to date it first by general design and construction materials, is it '40's, '50's etc and then find the vehicle. Looks pretty interesting. My thoughts would be either an economy car or some sort of small vehicle from the war, or an agricultural machine.0

Looks very much like powertrain used in a 3 wheel utility cycle built by Mazda. If I remember correctly they were built in the mid to late 60's but were not inported to the US.0

Dover 1 wins the prize. After many emails and asking, a Mazda club member has identified it as a Mazda T600 motor. In August 1959, just 19 of the T600 and K360 (combined) were ordered and they arrived in October 1959. During 1960 a further 28 arrived, making a meager total in Australia of just 47 vehicles.
The T600 were sold in Australia during 1959 and 1960. That is how Mazda claims 50 years in Australia. Mazda vehicles were not imported in any numbers until 1963. Even then, that started with about 100 vehicles in late 1963 with more during 1964. Hope this is of interest, Barry0 -
