gas tank on stepdown painted or galvanized

anyone no what color the gas tank might have been painted? it has been redone by a local shop and is now a light grey and is ready o be installed

My memory says low-gloss or semi-gloss black (not flat black). In any case, that's what I'd go with today. Matter of fact, I did exactly that ... today. But it was a tank for our '47.

I don't think that stepdown gas tanks were painted. They were galvanized. My guess is that would mean they were silver in color.
