I may have mentioned this, but one of our local Hudson people plans to have a car shipped from the Ft. Myers area of Fla, to the Annapolis area of Md., sometime in the next month or so.

She has gotten prices from two or three companies:

Young's Auto Transport

ASAP Auto Shipping

State-2-State

Is anyone familiar with any of these companies, an their reputation?

Can anyone recommend a company or individual that is highly thought of yet reasonably priced?

    I have used Intercity Transport several times and recommend them without reservation. Prices were competitive, delivery timely and management of cars superb.

    Thanks for your good ideas!

    By the way, do either of these people use closed trailers? She has just had this car re-done, and it only needs cosmetic stuff now. I don't know for sure whether the companies she's contacted use open trailers or not, but would like to get that information for these two people you suggest.

    - Check that the transport company is fully bonded and insured. Get the insurance company name, policy number and phone number. Check to ensure that the insurance company is valid/reputable, that the policy is in force, and that the insurance is valid for what is being transported;

    - She should contact her collector car insurance company, and make sure the car is fully covered (including damage during transport) - before it moves an inch;

    Good point. In cases like this ALWAYS make sure you have YOUR OWN insurances in place.

    You don't want to be in a situation where you are relying on a reluctant carrier to make a claim on their insurance before you see any money.
