That could be a rare "one-off" prototype. That would explain the price. Or it could be a Jet with an as-usual botched up custom by would-be designer whose schooling in design consisted of acetylene welding class.

The owner must be of the PT Barnum school of thought, i.e., "there's a sucker born every minute".

Sometimes I think I should take a picture of some of the junk I've got, put an outrageous price on it and list it E-Bay or Craigslist and cash in. Then reality sets in and in good conscience, I wouldn't be able to do it.

Ads like this are proof positive that you really never do know what runs through the minds of some people's kids.
  • I looked at this and never got to the price I was laughing so hard I did not register the 20K now that I see that I am laughing harder. Gotta love those 40's Hornets they are RARE, RARE...... worth a mint he should be charging 120K...
  • Plus the ad says you need to call for an appointment...
  • Oh Come On You Guys This Cars Wheels Alone Should Bring 20k...i Hope I Also Can Stop Laughing ;)

My first thought was that if he had really put his mind to it, he could have found AN EVEN UGLIER back window- but on further reflection, maybe not.
  • Hell, if he has $20K on that 7/8 of a complete Jet, I'd hate to see what he's asking on that much-cooler '60 Pontiac next to it in the pics!

Check this out...the very SAME CAR, offered elsewhere in the LA Basin, and apparently, the pics are of the car in much better condition --- for $15K!!!

  • Yeah Patrick, but that was when they thought it was a 53 Jet! NOW that they know it is a 40's model Hornet it is worth more..............
