Center Steering Arm Seals - Questions
Does anyone know where to find replacement seals for the center steering pivot on a stepdown? My replacement center pin kit does not include these seals, and my old seals are long gone (not there). Top & bottom washers are there, but no seals. Were the original seals bonded to these washers?
Are NOS or reproduction seals available? Is there an appropriate substitute for them? Any major problems if I proceed without them? Thanks for your input.

The Maas family provide a replacement center pivot pin and bearing replacement kit. The kit can be viewed at this website:
http://21stcenturyhudson.net/products1.htm No seals are pictured in this kit.
My website is listed below, there you will find a Parts replacement manual. The manual has a section listing SEALS ... one listing is for the 48-54 Center Point... the listing is very dated, the numbers are:
National Seal: 6434S or BCA Bower Bearing : 1612. I do not know if these part numbers are even useful, at one time they were available.
Good Luck... let us know the outcome.0 -
"o" rings would work also. Have used those before with no problems. Anything to "seal" the grease in0

Thanks for the numbers Ken! I'll report back on what I find.

And thank you also Russ. I hadn't thought about using "O" rings. If I run into a dead-end with Ken's part numbers, I'll go the O-Ring route.

Walt-
Stuff like that you can always put them in the box along with the other stuff you're sending me and send me a total. You know I'll need them.

Walt - Thanks for the information. I will be in touch.

Ken - Here's the follow-up. Had both Federated and NAPA "run" the National Seal, as well as the Bower Bearing part numbers listed above. The numbers were either missing from their databases, or listed as "obsolete". Thanks again for the input.
