Getting ready to strip my 51 to the bare metal with airplane stripper. Is there a trick to removing the vent behind the hood, foward of the windshield. I have the dash out already and it looks to be above the heater ?? Also looks to be a pain in the a@* ?Anyone done this ? Mine is poorly aligned and has a small dent I need to fix

Thanks C Overton

open the vent up , from the outside there is a screw in the center of the screen part , take it out and pull screen assembly out then you can see two screws on each side of the vent, its pretty easy to remove

The heater and air box inside of fire wall is part of the unibody and can not be removed. Just the outside screen and door can be removed. Why they put 4 bolts through it when it is welded solid to the fire wall. Good old hudson. Build it strong and go out of business. Walt.

I'd like to have a dollar for every poor schmuck who has removed those bolts and tried to pry that box out. I'd have to pay the first dollar to myself!

Thanks a bunch everyone, I was about to try the "standing on your head under the dash trick" and remove those bolts !!!Could not find out on the fix it web site . Might be a good time to go to 12 volts too since I can find all the little # 55 mineture bulbs.
