Terraplane Trans: Part Two

:o:confused:I took the advice on getting my transmission out of my '37 Terraplane. The engine and trans are currently seperated as I was able to remove the clutch assembly. Earlier in the process, my younger son decided to seperate the overdrive tail housing from the transmission, he would not listen when I told him not to. Anyways the tail housing is about a half inch away from the transmission and is currently in a bind, not bad but I can not move anything. Of course he left it that way and he has not came back to help resolve the problem. He is one of those people who think the older generatiopn does not know anything. Next question, This transmission has the floor shifter and it is not going to clear the dash board. If I remember right, put the trans in neutral and unbolt the top cover wth the shift stick and pull it straight up. Am I right or is there another way. I must admit that I am gettinmg very frustrated with this project and am nearly ready to give it up, If I did, I would lcosider trading for a good '41-'47 Hudson Sedan that is in reasonably good driving condition and looks decent. Any help and advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Arnie in Nevada.

Arnie, I'm not sure precisely which transmission you have in the car, currently. If it's the original '37 tranny it won't be an overdrive. If it's a 1940 overdrive with the 1937 gearshift lever bolted on, you need only remove the four bolts and lift, as I recall. Neutral is probably a good idea, if you can shift it there. If it is any other overdrive transmission I have no idea how the shift lever is connected!
