Welcome to the family, Don. Looks like quite a nice car and it appears that you got a very good deal.0

I wish I had something like this to start with
Nice Buy!

Wow. Looks great. Nice purchase.0

If you bought that car for around six grand then you absolutely stole it. Put it on e-bay and you'll make ten grand profit in ten minutes.0

Yup you can still find deals like these in Canada. I saw a 52 Super Wasp that looked like it had just driven off the show room floor it was totally original with 40K miles on it go for 6K. Guy got a great deal.0

I agree, whole-heartedly, but don't sell it, Don. The joy you get from owning and driving this fine automobile will be ten-fold to the paper with #'s on it you could get if you sold it.
Super-fine buy-- you should be very proud. What's the canister just behind the radiator on Pass. side? Is that a fuel filter?
Don-
Glad to have you on board here on the forum. The information (if you should need any) you get from the fine fellows here is invaluable. Please keep us abreast of your adventures as we all love to hear the Hudson stories. Are you a member of the HET club and do you plan on attending the National in July with your new-found purchase?0 -
Hey everyone, thx for the feedback. This is the first classic car that I've owned. I had an old truck but it was pretty rough!! I hope I don't drive you guys too nuts with all my questions. I haven't had a lot of time to work on it, although I have the drivers door panels off to work on the handle. So now I know how to get that off hahahaha..... I was told to run 15 40 old style diesel in it for the zinc?/ Any opinions. Thx Don0

Don-
Don't worry about driving anyone nuts with questions . . . that's one of the main reasons most of us get on here for. Besides, you'll find that Hudson folk, more than any other marque I've found, LOVE talking about Hudsons with other like minds.
I've come to the conclusion that the Zinc additives are over-rated, but there is still much room for debate/opinions on the matter . . . jury is still out in most people's minds. Go up on the page to the black bar that runs horizontally across the screen, go under search, type in "Zinc additive" and read past posts on the subject. There is much to be gained that has already been posted on the subject. Let us know which way you decide to go.
Probably one of the leading conclusions I've come to is, adding probably won't hurt anything, and it might be helpful. If that is true, it comes down to, "Am I wasting my money by doing it?" My .02 worth.:)0 -
I echo a nice buy for the money since I noticed '51 - 53 Cpoupes have really soared in value recently....My guess the black can is a vacume tankto improve wiper action on a pull up a grade or its a radiator overflow catch bottle.....
I use Rotella T or Chevron Diesel oil in mine, but personally dont feel less zinc is problem in existing engines wioth milage, only important for freshly rebuilt engines to help mate components.0 -

If you decide to go for the zinc - there's a source posted on www.hudsoncollector.com/forum_viewtopic.php?14.1023

Ol Racer-
Good point on the freshly re-built engines . . . I would agree with that.0
