    Dave, it looks like the 36-50 unit only has 5 bolts to secure it to the tank,requires 6 like the later style.?:cool:

    They list different units for '36-'47 and '48-'50. The bad news is that the '36-47 unit is $180. The (maybe) good news is that they'll rebuild an original '36-'47 unit for about $120. Hmmm. The Dennis Carpenter replacement, a purely resistive unit, works OK but takes a little tweaking of the float arm setting, and seems to be quite voltage sensitive. Not good for the cars ('47 and earlier) that have the 3-brush generator and regulator that limits current rather than controlling voltage. Voltage can easily get to 8v. under light-load conditions.
