'36 glovebox lid springs source?

Anyone have a handle on where I can get 4 of these - 2 lefts and 2 rights. They're an unusual shape.

I've made my own torsion springs for the gas door on a stepdown - what do yours look like?

Good luck! I also have a 36 in need of one spring, and actually went through the roster and called EVERYBODY with a 36 listed. The most common answer was, 'If you find any, I need some Too! I have looked for 3 years now. They do occasionally pop up. I know one fella who scored some on e-bay a few years ago. Every once in a while you see a glove box door for sale, but invariably the springs are broken or have been removed.

Judging from the feed back I got, it would probably behoove us 36 guy's to look into getting some made.

Now that I have said that, you will probably be flooded with offers of NOS springs. Just remember, I need some Too!

Sounds like a project someone should look into. Spring companies have the equipment for turning out specialty springs. It's not like you're trying to have a run of NOS fenders made! Of course you'd want to investigate the possibility of easily modifying these to fit other years of Hudson, so you could do a large run, and spread out the cost-per-unit. It would be worth mailing one of your old broken springs to a couple of companies, for a quote. No harm or cost, in investigating. (I could use a pair for my '37, LOL!)

I'll add my, "good luck," I am actually the guy that found a NOS pair on Ebay some years ago. My advice is to find a reasonably good pair on an existing glove box. There are lots of old '36 cars around, many that will never be restored.

All right, I'll sign up. I have a broken one in the 36 I can use for a pattern, and a buddy up the road with a machine shop who can get me the wire. The thing isn't rocket science.



Looks like the end that goes thru the bracket needs to be left soft so you can bend it to keep it in.



The end on the door is fastened on with an eyelet that will have to be drilled to remove the old one. Maybe I can find some to supply with them. Otherwise we can use a screw and captive nut or something.

All the springs on the car I have here now are missing so I can't post a picture.



Uncle Josh it wouldn't hurt to collect some orders if you're up to getting some made, I'd be a starter for 8, ie enough for 4 lids which is 2 lefts and 2 rights.



They don't come up on ebay often enough that's for sure.
