50 Super: Twinh and Update

Now, that I've got my latest website done I'm back on the 50 Super.
First priority is to get the mechanicals done so I'm starting back on the TwinH
I had posted awhile ago on whether or not to pull the 6 steel plugs out of the bottom of the intake or not.
The answer is YES! I removed about 1.5 pounds of carbon or at least it seemed like it from the pile on the floor! Each side was completely plugged up as shown in the picture
Even with a thourough cleaning before I ever put the intake into the bead blaster while I was blasting the passage ways a couple of times the carbon coming out of the intake completely "blacked out" the interior of the blast cabinet - couldn't see a thing - sure glad I wasn't in Wes's Tent - I would have looked like Al Jolson
I finished the cleaning and replaced the new plugs, primered and painted the intake tonight...I LOVE my Infrared Heat Lamps, made quick work of things and baked that red paint right on!

Walt,
Yep, I've done this before on old parts - just not a twin-h!
I won't let anything into my bead blaster with grease on it - especially after tearing the bead blaster apart to clean out the grease splatter from the previous owner!
Luckily for me this was an intake that has not recently been on a car so it was fairly "grease free" to start with.
I heated the manifold with my infrared lights and dropped it into a vat-o-degreaser with high-pressure hot-water rinse and then repeated.
Then I dropped it into a vat-o-rusteater overnight to get the tough stuff off, hot water rinse then dried with an air blower, after which the manifold set for 6 weeks while I finished my last website project.
It was bone dry when I dropped into the bead blaster, but I will take care before reassembling and do another throrough inspection.0
