Truckloads of Hudson Parts!

Figured that title would capture y'all's attention. I actually did get 3 pick-up loads of Hudson parts recently. A few NOS items, mostly used, some useable. I figure I'll be able to use maybe 20-25% of them, hold onto another 60%, maybe sell or trade the rest. Probably 15 or 20% is un-useable, but don't worry, I won't throw anything away--never do.

A couple interesting items I came across are the Unity Lights pictured below. One set is the 5" and the other is the 6". The mounting hardware is complete in the little boxes, and I even have the big boxes from Unity they came in. These appear to be NOS to me, but maybe repros? I'm leaning toward NOS. I think at this point I'd like to hold onto the 5" lights and use them either on Doc, my sedan, or save them for the convertible. The 6" set I'm willing to sell and thought I would give my forum buddies first crack at them before the WTN or E-Bay. Heck, for that matter, if you've been waiting years to find a good set of 5", then this is the set for you. Make me a good enough offer, and I might let them go, as well. These are WAY too nice to be sitting in a box on the shelf and need to be on a vehicle where someone can enjoy them. They have the "Hudson" logo on top, but I know you can still buy those with whatever marque of car you have.

They are identical to the ones in the car pictured on bottom.

Check it out!

Yes it is, but it's not my car. Just own a copy of the photo.
  • As far as I know, Unity lights with vinyl coated wiring are reproductions. Yours look just like the driving and fog lights my bro-in-law got for me from his Unity supplier a few years back, even down to the boxes. They seem to be made as well as original Unity lights I have.

    Hi Russell,

Any chance you have NOS or restorable beltline quarter panel or front fender stainless for my 52 Hornet coupe, if so and needless to say I'd be interested in buying from you.

    Thanks,

    Ray

Well, I've been educated since I posted this. Yes, these are Unity reproductions about 15 years old, but same ones that are still available today. Not the "find" I initially thought. Still, would like to sell the 6" set if anyone is interested and I'll make you a good deal on them. Kanter sells this same set for $179.00. I have to laugh at myself for being so ignorant, my initial "homework" had me looking on E-Bay and there was an identical set for a "But It Now" at $349.00. Sad part is, someone will probably buy them at that price and I should've known better than to use E-bay as my guideline.

Anyway, yes, I've probably got some beltline trim that I can spare, no NOS, though. Good used pieces, maybe. Drop me an e-mail, please.
  • Russell,

If I remember correctly, the Unity reproduciton fog light sets were selling for about $170.00 per set, retail. Kanter was selling the Hudson logo caps for $9.00 per pair. So, $179.00 for the lot makes sense. Like I said, the quality seems comparable to original goods. When I got mine a few years ago, they were available in both 6 and 12 volts as well as 5 and 6 inch diameters, either size or voltage offered clear or amber glass lenses. The only complaint I've heard from others who bought these is the plastic rocker switch. Unity no longer offers the old time rotary dash switch with the light up knob that says "Unity Lights." However, they do pop up on Epay from time to time.

    Dave-

Everything you posted is exactly right, as far as I know. Most of that I learned today.
  • Russell,

At least yours already have the Hudson logo on them. The ones direct from Unity had a riveted metal nameplate with Model H-1 on it, but I'm sure someone could add the logo if they wanted.

So, what other Hudson goodies did you bring home?
