Wiring question?

When converting to 12 volts and using the single wire alternator, what do you do with the three wires that went to the voltage regulator? In particular, how do you wire up the idiot light to let you know that the alternator is charging?

    Jason,
The #1 terminal, which is the left hand one of the two 'blade type' terminals at the top of the alternator(when viewed from the rear), is the one that works the idiot light. Most 1-wire alternators have a cap of some sort on the two blade terminals. Remove the cap if there's one, and connect #1 to the wire that comes down from the gen light and used to connect to the ARM terminal of the voltage regulator (it would be the smaller of the two wires that were conected to the ARM terminal). Even with the internal mod's that make it a 1-wire unit, I think the alternator will still work the gen light correctly.
