52 Hornet Dash Trim Question
Due to installing a brand new YNZ wiring harness, we have the dash out of my 52 Hornet. There is a chrome trim strip that fits between the face of the dash and the top of the dash. This is the same type chrome strip that is used on the door panels. Does anyone know where to get these chrome strips? Thanks, Niels

They are just a chrome plated plastic bead such as you would see used as a fairly common upholstery bead.
The later version of these upholstery beads do seem to be a little larger in diameter though.0 -
Niels,
If you find a source, please let me know. I have not been able to find any as of yet. The originals were a stainless steel sleeve that was wrapped around a wire inside a piece of canvas(?). Not likely to find one exactly the same, but something we could use that was not too large.
Lewis Mendenhall was looking for this same part a couple of years ago for his Commodore and I think he found something, but I have been unable to contact him (e-mail and left phone messages).0 -

Hi Russ,
I will let you know what I find to replace it with. The original pieces are so high quality (like you said, wrapped in canvas) that I doubt an exact duplicate is out there.0 -

Hi Niels/Russ,
If you find a source please order extra amount for my '52 coupe dash, if you do, send it with my two license plate holders...When do you want payment for them?
Thanks,

Hi Ray,
When the plate frames come in I'll let you know the total and get your address then. No worries. Niels0 -
