Interesting Factory Markings Found on Back of Hornet Dash
When we removed the dash we found some interesting large factory "Red chalk marks" on the inside of the dash. It says: " 7B 1-0732-3 TX DD 1-11"
The car is a 52 Club Coupe so I would assume the 7B means the body style.
Perhaps the 1-0732-3 is the part number, TX means Texas and 1-11 is the production date?
Just thought it was neat to see someones handwriting from back in 1952.

Neils, All the stepdowns had their dashes marked that way. The model designation was always to the right of the glove box opening (from the outside and the rest of the sequence info was written over the area where the radio and ashtray were located. Some dashes had a primer on the back and some don't have one at all. Don't know about the TX meaning Texas though. BTW it was crayon-not chalk.0

Learn something everyday. I was wishfully thinking that some hottie had written on it with her lipstick.... No primer on the back of mine (and still shiny as new). Thanks for the info.0 -

7B only denotes "Hornet", not body style. I would (and rightfully so, mind you) assume that TX denotes Texas, also. But, logically, why would the back of the dash designate destination? Doesn't make sense to me, so in all reality, it probably stands for something else.0
