Help needed on long trip

Hey all, I'm driving from GA. up to PA. starting out about 5:00am tomorrow morning to pick up the 54 Hornet I just bought. Just thinking about the possibility of someone being near my route that I might call only in desperation of course should I need a part I don't have. We will be coming back from zip code 18087, Schnecksville. Basically returning via I-78 to I-81 to I-77 to85 south to Atl.

I'm bringing spare parts and tools and bunches of other stuff that I wouldn't have thought of, but thanks to "Bobdriveshudson" I have a huge list of stuff. I don't expect any problems but you never know. The car is said to be reliable and roadworthy so I am expecting a smooth trip. Thanks, Richie.

If you're a Hudson Club member, note that the membership roster is annotated to indicate members who've got facilities, tools and knowledge to help with any problems. It's wise to have the roster with you on any trip.

vice grips!!!.....vice grips have saved my butt a few times from walking when a caliper seal or brake line busted or worse was actually torn off once at 70 mph!......I found the rear line hanging and bleeding everywhere I popped the ammo box/tool box open and folded the line over and pinched it off with my trusty vice grips..............and went home!!
  • Assuming that you have already insured the car(ie: Haggerty's or other).... then perhaps you could consider their free towing option. It would sure give peace of mind and just think of it as part of the cost of picking up the car.

Good idea Park, I hadn't thought about that either, I'll take it with me. Thanks. Richie.

Yes, I have already insured it and have the card with me nph1127. I do have the Hagerty extra protection plan for towing but I think that only covers the first 50 miles. I may be wrong about that, I'll read the contract again tonight. Thanks Niels, Richie.

AAA+ is also great to have - 100 mile towing, no questions asked. When I was coming home from Massachusetts last summer the Caddy overheated about 40miles or so west of Jackson, TN. Called AAA, an hour later (truck came from Jackson), towed me to my driveway - about 75 miles.

Got great gas milage on that last 75 miles. :D

AAA+ costs up around $80 or so, as I recall - but man when you need it it's worth every single penny.
