HI, does anyone know what size/thread size the stepdowns used?....I'm wanting to change over from the bolts to studs. I haven't made it into town to match them up so i figured I might get lucky with a quick reply here first. Thanks

  • I guess I get to answer my own question.........anyway, they are 1/2" x 20 and either 3/4 or 1" long....

    The threaded portion is 7/8"

Strictly out of curiosity, why the switch? The lug bolts work better and are stronger to boot (less parts). Are you gaining something by pressing in studs?

Hey Russel!....good to hear from you. I'm not pressing in any studs...it just sounds like it i guess!.....I have a set of old cragar ss mags with brand new tires I've had put up a while and out of curiousity wanted to see what they looked like on it. I found out quick the bolts were too short to mount the thicker cragar's so off I went with lug bolt in hand and had COMPLETE HELL trying to find some a half inch longer!.....man, it was unreal!......finally found some at advance auto parts. I went to two different bolt companies and said they couldn't get them so I went to home depot, tractor supply, napa, and several others before finding a rack of 1/2" x 20 x 1 1/2" lug bolts!...and they fit perfect!......but no I'm definately not going through the trouble of pressing in studs!......(not that determined yet!)......

So... Where & who did you end up getting them from?
oh shoot.......I thought I had it in there! whoops!........I found a few at advance auto parts believe it or not........the rest, being I needed 20 of them were found at an industrial bolt outlet called a&l bolt and screw here in Lake charles LA.

...Oh wait......I did have in the first post "finally found some at Advance Auto Parts"..........you just overlooked it!
