Hornet Coupe Progress Update
Yesterday was 11 hour day, including three being RT drive to Logandale…Partially installed rear end, gas tank and springs, trunk bezel with Hudson badge, additional suspension work, removed most of orignal new engine parts and replaced with higher quality ones ordered from Summit Racing Equipment…Can’t believe immediate delivery of my entire order placed on 6/15 and delivered 6/17 also the difference from Taiwan manufactured parts (will offer on eBay) that came with new crated Chevy engine and Made in the USA. Plan to start up engine next week, complete suspension installation with shocks, spring and put wheels on car, will keep FORUM posted, see some pictures…Wishing the Military, Hudson and all father’s a,
Happy Father’s Day,

Hi Stateline,
Looks like your also making solid progress, nice picture; post more when possible. Between Neils, Bill A., yours and mine, there will be four new restored Hornet coupe's on the road soon...Today I received front pair of excellent rain shields (good tip from Russell) from Walt Mordenti and if anyone has pair for coupe rear windows and wants to sell, or trade (I have couple of parts) please contact me...Some months ago on eBay I purchased a piece job lot of NOS rain shields and if I can't find rear coupe pair, I'll try and have stainless steel shop fabricate required pair? I also received difficult to find, good pair of quarter panel beltline stainless steel trim which I'll be taking to chrome shop for high speed wheel polishing next week...Can't wait until later next week to continue restoration.
Enjoy this coming special Sunday,

walt's garage-53 wrote:Glad to read you received the package. How did you like the way I shipped them? Got your check today also. I hang out at a shop that gets all their parts in round tubes and I can take any I need. Walt.
Walt,
Thanks for the rain shields, as expected your packaging was great and parcel arrived as you informed it would, best part of opening tube was seeing the rain shields which are real good quality, but I still want to have polished on high speed chrome shop wheel. With all the restorations; Hudson Motor Car Company is making a comeback in downtrend economy; wouldn't that b great!!! Have a safe, troublefree trip with your Hornet to east coast and I know you'll enjoy the National, see you in November at Laughlin, NV. Forgot to mention and give credit to Russell for pair of quarter panel beltline stainless steel trim and giving me the tip to contact you for rain shields..
Thanks again and Happy Father's Day0 -
Had a great day, went to Arlen Ness showroom and meet with Bill Biler and discussed his turbo charged '53 Hornet flyer, unfortunately his car wasn't there and I couldn't wait until 3:30 PM for Hornet to return...Will try and see it on my way back from Logandale tomorrow where I am going to work with Allen on my '52 Hornet...Picked up custom made drive shaft I ordered only this Monday morning (great sevice) from Dan's Drive in Vegas, also two, wow very expensive quarts of Dot 5 Brake Fluid, one gallon of primer from Sherwin-Williams to start on my 1962 Buick Skylark also picked up my Hornet windshield bezels from www.americanpolishingplating.com which look better than new; see pictures. On Hornet tomorrow we're going to finish brake lines, install disc brakes and bleed them, install front springs and shocks, will take addtional pictures and post. Also mailed interior dash, window moldings, etc., to have hydrographics water transfer in burl wood, however I am missing two little pieces used in center of front/rear window molding, anyone who has and wants to sell, please send me a email.
While having coffee with Bill (great guy) today, he mentioned we should start a local Vegas chapter in Vegas and he would let us hang out / have monthly meetings at Arlen Ness's outstanding showroom and shop area, I intend to send generic email to Hudson Vegas members to see if anyone is interested?
More at later date,
Ray0
