aftermarket temp gauge problem

this is for one of my other projects, but I am having trouble getting the help I need. I have a set of Shark gauges, made by Dolphin, and the temp gauge goes directly to 250 degrees when I turn on the key. I have replaced the sending unit and the new one does the same. The truck has an aftermarket wiring harnes from ezwiring, and both of the wires for the gauge and sender say the same thing on them, would reversing them make this happen? any suggestions would be appreciated, i am goin nuts with this and Dolphin is closed til monday! thanks in advance!

as it turned out it was bad ground...didnt matter though got the gauge working drove it around for 2 days then took it on highway and the motor lost oil pressure, power, and then boiled over. think that is next part of project, ENGINE. thanks though

How do you like the EZwiring harness? I am thinking about ordering one as opposed to Painless $170 compared to $329.

It is a great harness, I have never completely rewired a vehicle before and it went pretty smooth. the only problems I had were the ones I discovered, bad distributer and grounds, and the ones I created, accidently cut my turn signal indicator light wires and lost the stubs. Other than these things it was really easy. I would suggest buying a good wire cutter/stripper, alot of extra connectors and small zip ties to bundle as you go, mine looks like a rats nest now cause I didnt do that, got everything done stepped back and went oooopps!

yeah, I think it took less than 3 days to get, good customer service also. had to call for how to hook up my aftermarket turnsignal switch and they knew what part I had and how to hook it up no problems!

Who makes a good wire stripper? I've had an old one for many years and somewhat worn. Havent looked for one, so dont know what is available. Radio shack? Sears? Lowes? Auto parts stores? Thanks, Bob

any are decent, just make sure they are in good shape, mine was sloppy and made it difficult until i went out and got new ones
