  • Hey,

you sure that is does not have a 308 engine in it with a 262 head installed?

Are the reinforcement ribs present on the block above the oil pan rail or

is the block smooth all the way to the oil pan rail?

I've seen several guys buy Hudsons thinking they had 232 engines only to

find out later they were 308's and this is one sure fire way to tell.

Looks to be a 48-50 trunk lid. Wish my projects started out life that solid looking. I just brought home a 54 convertible that is very very rough.

Will load some pics when I down load fromo the camera

I was originally hoping it was a 308 with a 262 head, but no luck. No extra rib, also non-matching serial numbers. I also just found out it is only a 3 speed w/o overdrive:(. I believe it will run though, so maybe I will just keep it like that until I find a decent 308. I do have a running 308 from a 55, but I am not sure how to make that work. Any ideas?

Looks like a good project. The decklid just needs the holes drilled for the rocket, and you might have a couple of holes to patch on the bottom, but you should be able to make that one work (provided you don't have to have a '52-'53 decklid.

308's can be found . . . too bad it's not one already! If it's a Hornet, I'd definately put the 308 back into it. Do you have the sheetmetal for the front end? Grill, etc.?

Fun project. I like the look of the HLWYD's, myself.

    Russ-

I understand "rough", when it comes to convertibles. Can't wait to see the pics.

This is the car that was advertised in the latest WTN. It already has had the upholstry done, the stainless straightened and pollished, and the bumpers(and gaurds) and grill plated. The interior was re-done in blue, but the car was originally Toro Red. I need to decide what color to paint it to match interior. I will take suggestions....I do have the front sheet metal that is all ready for paint.

Speaking of interior, what color carpet originally came with the blue seats.

  • The master parts catalog shows gray, brown and red carpet to be available for cars with a standard tranmission.
