Hollywood rear window

I can't find my Hudson body manual, and I need to remove the rear window on my 52 Hollywood. How do I get it out without breaking it? I have removed the stainless and chrome pieces inside and out. The metal bars are still present. Should I just cut the gasket? The car is going to the sandblaster Friday and I need the glass out.

Thanks in advance for any help?

  • whatever you do save the old rubbe as you will need it for a pattern to cut the proper notches to re install the new rubber and your glass. ilt took us 3 days to put the glass back with the new rubber, the upright at the splits is cut like a t and a slot must be cut out with a razor plade in the top and bottom for it to fit. GOOD LUCK, BILL ALBRIGHT

Don,as described, these are a pain to do. Try to save the rubber and restore it best as possible and re-use it. Remove all outside moldings and retainers. Hdtp's use the outside moldings to retain the glass somewhat. Remove both vertical chrome pieces inside and out, Remove both outside L&R glass pieces by lifting the rubber window gasket down and slightly pushing out on the glass at the top. I have found using some windex or equivent help slide the rubber out. The center glass is about the same. First start at the top, pushing from the inside to the outside-DO NOT PRY OR FORCE THE GLASS. Take your time doing this, and remember how it came out because you are going to reinstall it. Also pay close attention to where the center of the glass is,because this is going to be important when you re-install it. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I will try tonight and report results. I was going to buy a new gasket, but it sounds like I should re-use old gasket instead of hassling with a new one.
