NEED HELP...with a 1930 sedan
I am trying to mock up the body of my 1930 2 door sedan, so I can figure out how it goes together. My dad COMPLETELY TOOK IT APART and didnt lable anything or take pictures or write anything down. AND because he was street rodding it and boxing the frame he started filling all the "unnecessary" holes. well now I have it and the holes he filled are body mounts for fenders an runningboards EVERYTHING! What I am hoping is that some one has a detail diagram/measuremants anything that would help me locat these properly so the body lines up! I hope someone can help Kyle

i may have figured out how to fin and locate all the holes, my dad didnt grind down the back sides so the weld shows up good on that side. Can anyone suggest a good way to drill out the welds with a hand drill, and the best type of bit to use? it seems like every hole in steel I drill my bits go dull. I dont have a plasma or torch to burn them out either. any help appreciated, thanks Kyle0

Theres a couple of things you can do.
Center punch and use a High Speed Double Ended 1/8th in drill bit (I prefer these because they're short, strong and cheap)
Once you have a pilot hole I'd use a step bit similar to the picture to drill to the size you need.
These will dull-down but because of the step design it's easier to get through the thicker frame material.
I buy the cheap step bits from Harbor Freight...
Don't be afraid to use some oil for cooling material down while drilling - might make a mess, but your bits will last longer.
BTW - Although the step bits start @ 1/8" - don't use these to drill your pilot holes, get the double sided 1/8" drill bits instead.0 -
