Bad News and Good News

The Bad News is as I feared I will not be able to make the National this year.

The good News is:

1. I will be canceling my Marriott reservations for the National. I had reservations for Wednesday the 15th through Friday the 17th with check out on Saturday the 18th at the host hotel. If any one would like to move to the host hotel send me a PM and I will try and transfer my reservation. I will wait till Saturday to cancel to see if anyone is interested.

2. After being laid off since October and only working two days a week since February, I was called back to work. I am going to try and make the regional meet in Pontiac on Sunday. And now I also should be able to finish my commodore and make some fall meets with it.

You're right, Pat. That is good and bad news. I was looking forward to meeting finally with you, but very glad to hear about your work status. We'll catch up sooner or later!

Great to hear that you got called back!

I'm still struggling to find anything I can do to stay in my house... (stimulus my @zz )
  • Pat, glad to hear your back to work, and able to work on your Hudson now. Instead of 40-50 containers a week, we're still only moving 12-20. I haven't been able to work on mine for a couple of weeks, because during that time, the temps here NEVER got lower than 81, with high's in the low 100's. High tomorrow here is suppose to be 98. All I need is for the temps to go down, and the economy to go up! I guess I'm now on the "Obama Train", because I'm starting to Hope for Change! (ha)

Pat, you shouldn't have any trouble transferring your reservation. Talk to Sylvia - I transferred mine to another person with no problems. I called the hotel, talked to Sylvia, gave her the name of the person taking my room - and that's all there was to it. That person then called and confirmed that they had the reservation.

And in case anybody suddenly got their hopes up that I won't be there - I canceled my reservation only because I found somebody to go with and share a room with. :D
  • Dear Hudson Tech, this is Bud Sisto,I'm bringing my 28 Hudson roadster to the Marriot on the 15-17 and had found a hotel 4 miles away. Could you E-mail me at budsisto@aol.com and let me know what the kind of room you reserved. I know it's probably a single, but on the chance,I need a double, and how much it cost? Thanks

I was wasn't thinking when I canceled my reservation yesterday. I hope some one from the Hudson club will get the room at the same Rate. Sorry I won't have my Auto window channeling business there for the Hudson Club. As Dan and Rambo said: (stimulus my @zz )

Pat, sorry you will miss the Nationals but very glad you're back to work. Bettie said we are going to the nationals no matter what. I'm glad we made our hotel and plane reservations last August, while we had the money set aside. I was let go from my job Monday. So, the Lord willing, we will see you all there no matter what! If anyone happens to be near the Detroit Airlport on July 12 and would be willing to give Bettie and I a ride to the Nationals, we would be grateful. Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 5:20 am. Our email: HETCLEESCARS@yahoo.com (drop the HET) Thank you. Victor, sorry to here you can't make it to the nationals. We'll see you at the next business meeting. Lee

Thanks to Alex, Judy and I will be at the National.

The transfer of reservations went as smooth as Alex described. I spoke to Sylvia and she changed the reservations. While I was drafting an email to Alex to tell him that the change had been made, I received the confirmation via email from Sylvia.

Not only do I owe a debt of gratitude to Alex for his consideration but also to the wonderful people of the Home Chapter for all the hard work and effort they have put forth to make this the greatest National in the history of the HET Club.

    See y'all in Detroit!

I work for a flatbed steel hauler and although business overall is flat US Steel reconfiguration of plant operations has created a need for drivers in Gary and Birmingham. We also need drivers in our Memphis terminal, so if you know of any experienced steel coil flatbed haulers who are looking for loads send them my way. Company drivers not Owner Operator.

Thanks for all the best wishes.

I hope some one on this board posts daily pictures for us who can not make it.

Has there been any discussion making videos of the tech sessions to be put in the club library or for sale at the club store? On youtube?
