Jet tranny problem
I told you guys about my Jet shifting into overdrive to soon, now as I was driving it last friday, I couldn't get it to shift into 3rd, All it would do was grind the gears, and I had trouble getting it into 2nd. I went out to the garage yesterday, and drove it in the driveway and it shifts fine. Could this be an overdrive issue?? Like the relay or govener sticking??
Thanks, Barry Smedley

The problem of shifting into O/D too soon could be a bare wire on the govenor circuit. The govenor switch provides ground for the relay, hence any bare wire touching ground will energise the relay. Failing to shift into third could be one of several problems - the clutch not disengaging, the detent binding, or a broken bronze synchro ring. I had this problem with my Jet some years ago, the ring had broken and bits of it were jammed up in the assembly.
