Is it just us?
I was doing a little surfing today and I hit ebay motors. On the right side of the page under the heading "Most Watched Collector Cars" was a 2 dr. Hudson Hornet at $11,500. I was wondering, is it "most watched" because all of us Hudsonites are always following the sale of these, or, are other collectors taking notice now? Just thinkin' out loud...... what do you think?

Well they have gotten more publicity in the last couple years. I honestly think there are some car guys out there that are also looking outside the traditional big 3 classics. Hudson's have not traditionally kept up price value with those cars.0

What you say is true until you consider a well restored or fine original stepdown four door sedan can bring over 20k, how often will you see the big three sedans bring that kind of change?0 -
As it turns out, this '53 two tone red, two door Hornet sold for $11,600.00. I thought it'd go higher than that. Perhaps around 20 "G's". It did have some issues however, such as some minor rust, 84,000 miles (seller somewhat unsure if first time around) and an apparent non stock pink and red interior (including the dash) that gave it a somewhat "girlish" appearence!0

Was it a "little girlie" Hornet?0

somebody got a good deal there. Easy to fix the paint and interior issues if the body and frame are straight. That guy had strong nerves to sell without reserve. He must have thought it would get bid up more. I wonder if he will follow through and sell it.0

He has a choice?!!!0 -
Lots of times sellers jam out of selling like this. They would rather lose the ebay account than give the item out.0

And the sad thing is, they just sign up with a new name and account.0 -
So much for letting "the market" set the price....he didn't like what "the market" said. Anyways If you don't HAVE TO have a Twin H loaded Hornet you can still get a very nice step-down sedan for $10 K or less if you're willing to look around.0

The seller had sent me a couple pic's of the unside of that pink dashed coupe. It may have been OK underneath but I was not so sure. Also, the seller wouldn't state that it didn't hadn't been hit hard, have bondo or rust repair. Unless you actually look at a car represented like that, it is alot of money to gamble. If it looks like too good a deal, it probably is. To the sellers credit, he had good e-bay feedback.0

See its back http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Other-Makes-HUDSON-HORNET-NO-RESERVE-1953-HUDSON-HORNET-2-DOOR-COUPE-RUNS-GREAT-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ110420139522QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item19b58d9e02&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245#ht_5733wt_1328
So I wonder what happened. Buyer went over and said no way. Or this guy made excuses because the price was too low. Someone go over and peruse this car for us.0 -
I asked the seller why it is a bill of sale auction instead of with a title. He replied that he had recently purchased the car in Indianna where it had been off the road for a number of years and had no title. He was trying to get a CA title, but it required an Indianna title search which would take several weeks. He also told me that if I had a problem with that, simple solution...don't bid! After jumping through hoops in Texas to get an ebay trailer titled (still working on it), I see a big red flag draped across that pink interior!0

There is a solution to the title problem. Maine, where I used to live, does not require titles on vehicles over, I think it's 25 years old. However, for $50 (at the time I did this) you can obtain a title. All you have to do is produce a bill of sale.
I did this for a couple people, that I knew, in Massachusetts. Basically they "sold" me the car with a bill of sale; I took that to the registry and applied for a title. When I got the title I "re-sold" the car back to the original owner with bill of sale and title. Problem solved. Massachusetts was happy, car owner was happy.

Eighteen years ago I bought a 34 Chevy with a bill of sale with the promise of receiving the title as soon as he found it. Never got it. Rather than go through all the hassel with the DMV I ran it through a lien sale and soon had a clean title in hand. Lee0

Does anyone live in the Oakland area that can look at this car? Niels0
