Trim Level Differences?

Two Questions:
Something I read recently: "As the 1950s dawned, . . . . Commodores were also marketed in two trim levels, base and Custom, while the Super line was available in a single trim level."
1) What are the specifics on the "base" and "Custom" trim levels?, and
2) At a glance, how do you tell a '46 from a '47?

1. not sure about differences for Commodores, but there was two different trim levels for supers in 50 i.e. with and without the side stainless and porkchop. I just thought it was marketing trying to add a little splash to the commodore by calling it a custom, kinda like calling the convertibles brohahgs.
2. grille center larger on 47
trunk "Hudson" plastic in 46 chrome in 47
driverside key lock for door not present till 470 -
The most obvious difference is the ornament on the front of the hood has an extra bead of chrome around it on the '47's.
