Hello,

Did Hudson use welting between the front fenders and cab, and between the rear fenders and pickup box on the 1947 Cab Pickup?

Thank you, and take care,

Steve Bryson

When I was getting all the weather stripping for mine K-Gap had it listed in the Yellow Pages catalog for the rear fenders to bed only for the Pick-ups so I installed it there.

I put welting on both my pickups and it looks real nice. I bought Stainless lengths at Carpenters for the St Rod Trk then used regular welting on the other available almost anywhere. It is individual preference,

For originality, only the rear fenders, sure you can add them if you want but you'd only be talking about a short length in front from the cowl to the bottom, and it might not look as sleek as it does without them.

I thought there was a piece of short rubber in the front fender to body.?

From 1940 to 1947, all coupes and sedans had fender welt on the bottom of the front fenders and full length on the rears. Pickups were metal to metal, Walt.

    Hello,

Thank you for all of the replies.

    Okay - new question:

What are the pros and cons of using or not using fender welting on a pickup?

you definitly can use the welting on your pickup, fits just like car. I have seen pickups done both ways. will it trap water in seam, or will it help keep water out?? that would be the question that I would have. not using it on my 41 pickup.

Steve, I have seen it both ways. Both ways look good. Do what makes you happy.

    Have a good day. Lee

To each his own. Do what you think is best for you and not what others think. Remember, you own it. Walt.
